Fueled by failure

and feeling discontent about the way things turned out, I find myself tapping into my remaining dignity. I’m sad because I should have done better. This type of failure is new to me, and I’m not quite sure how swallow it. My motivation was killed by distraction. Damn this blog. Damn my sense of adventure. And damn my hopeless romantic heart. These things characterize bittersweetness. I wouldn’t be me without them, yet they betray me and leave me pathetic and lonely. Who will be there for me when inevitability pushes me over? The only way I know how to deal with life is to keep going. How naïve to think gravity doesn’t apply to me.

I failed. I blew it.

I am not as smart as I they thought I was.

There is a place in time where particles combine with anti-particles, arrogance and egotism are the same as weakness and modesty. I imagine these particles compose a rock in the middle of a valley surrounded by mountains of too much pressure and rivers of carelessness. I want to be that rock. I want the negative to become the positive.

Thanks for the rock show!

A kick ass DJ can make you dance until you forget who you are.

A mix tape can have more influence on your life than four years of college.

A perfectly rhythmic drumbeat can make your heel tap irrepressible to the beat.

A pounding bass line can inadvertently throw your fist in the air.

A rockin’ guitar solo can send you into a pious trance.

But when someone can truly sing…

tears will fill your eyes and you'll grab your chest as if your heart might to fall to the floor.

dinner with the Herrera's

My mom and her husband were in town tonight, so I thought it would be nice to take them out for dinner. We walked to this Asian Bistro just across the street from Wild Oats in Capital Hill. These are the things that happened during the night that made me roll my eyes and/or laugh to myself.

1: My mom was wearing a hat with a diameter of about two feet, and I am NOT exaggerating.

2: The husband was wearing over-sized sunglasses, a fisherman’s hat, a tank top, and cotton shorts that are two sizes too small.

3: As we are walking down 11th ave. we passed a Zen sand garden and my mom asked me if it was a big litter box.

4: At the restaurant, I ordered some wontons as an appetizer. The husband thought the pickled ginger was to be eaten like a salad and became disgusted when he took a huge bite and the overwhelmingly pungent taste made his eyes water.

5: When we got back to my house, my neighbor, who is a tambourine player, was practicing his tambourine REALLY loudly. My mom gave me a look of disgust.

Sunday is funday

3 ways to maximize the fun intake:

1 : eat dim sum" for breakfast

2 : study by the pool instead of inside

3 : type a paper at the bar with your friends and a beer instead of at home alone

what did you do for funday?

Dear Ann,

How many A.D.D. kids does it take to change a light bulb?

Dave put my bike together last night and I can't stop riding it...

I got a new job yesterday. Every Friday I will spend eight hours engaging the mind of this guy with a short term memory disorder.

Saturday night I am working at the coffee shop. No other big plans for the weekend. We'll see how things turn out. I'll try and keep you updated.

I miss you like crazy. When are you coming home.

-luccy

p.s. - do you find it is easier to tell people you heart them vs. you love them?

Dear Anne,

You’ve only been gone a couple days, but if feels like forever!!!

A boy came over to my house on the Fourth of July. He said, “you have a lot of smart books. I don’t know what I think about that.” I thought to myself, “I don’t know what I think about that either.”

Last night was Paddy’s birthday bash. We went to dinner at the Watercourse…YUM YUM! Then we hung out at the hippie bar. I picked a fight with some hippies about chocolate cake and the use of coasters. You would have been so proud.

Paddy ended the night in tears. She was crying about some ass hole who has broken her heart a thousand times. I told her not to worry, and that she was in a good situation because she now has the opportunity to meet a new boy who is cuter, and smarter, and not afraid to admit he likes her. Kinda scary…kinda exciting.

I wore my Nike shoes today
even though I said I was going to throw them away.
What can I say?
They are the only shoes that don’t hurt my feet.

Hope you’re making then best of Canada!

Heart,

Luccy

how was your day?

9AM - woke up next to the two cutiest boys in Denver...Billy and Goon. (those are my cats)

10AM - finally rolled out of bed, cleaned my apartment, and paid some bills

Noon - met up with Dave and went to breakfast/lunch.

The red, white, and blue pancakes sounded good, so I got that. (red = strawberries, blue = blueberreis, and white = powdered sugar)

1PM - went to cherry creek art festival

3PM - drove up to Arvada to go to a record store.

(tears for fears, the damned, and yet another skeeter davis)

5PM - dropped Dave off, went home, ate some left over thai food, and listened to my new records

6:45PM - went to the speak easy

7PM - realized the simposon's weren't on and the speak easy was closed. *sigh*

7:05PM - drove to paris to get online to tell you about my day because no one else wanted to listen........

I went to a party last night and ran into the old bass player for the Smiley Kids. That was an interesting conversation!

Happy day before Independence Day!

"I'm a person just like you, but I've got better things to do."

four guys named Scott

A recent preponderance of guys named Scott have been in my life. I thought I’d introduce you to them:

1: This is Scott the skier. He’s possible one of the most amazing human beings I have had the pleasure of knowing. The photo was taken at the winter X games in Aspen this past February.

2: Last night I ran into Scott of Nightingale. He’s playing at the Hi-Dive tonight.

3: I met a new friend that hangs out at the high street speak easy. Guess what his name is…

4: Last Saturday I stumbled upon this guy's blog. His name is Scott.

So none of this probably means anything. I’m sure its all just a coincidence.
