Workers Unite
Not only has it been 79 degrees in Denver, but it’s also been 79 in at the hospital where I work. It’s uncomfortable hot. The maintenance men are “fixing the air conditioner,” but someone forgot the “order the right parts.” So a two-week job has turned into a two-month job.
I noticed this morning a huge portable air conditioning unit in the administration office across the hall. Only five people work in that office: three secretaries and two higher-up type important people. No other department in the whole hospital got a portable air conditioning unit. We’ve all been suffering the heat. Not to mention, no patients ever go into that office, so they’ve been suffering as well.
So today one of the fire-ball nurses that works in the clinic gathered a bunch of other nurses and marched into the administration office. They all stood right in front of the portable air conditioning unit with their arms up and demanded it be moved to the clinic. And it was.
