I'm not a genius, and niether are you!
Genius is a complement other people give to you. To call yourself a genius simply means you are not smart enough to recognize what it means to be a genius and, therefore, you are not one yourself. The same goes with being humble.
I am reading a book called a heartbreaking work of a staggering genius. Amazing…the book really is amazing. Unfortunately I’m about three fourths of the way through and loosing interest. It started with a fantastic story of struggle and misfortune. Slowly it has digressed into a story about MTV’s real world. Don’t ruin the end for me if you’ve read the book. I hope its fantastic. I hope something really romantic comes of this story of courage. I keep reading because I have faith that something must happen, something that makes it worth reading. Because when people are faced with non-self-imposed misfortunes, they have two choices. One is to become the victim. Everything in their lives soon turns to tragedy and even though they’ve been through some sort of great struggle, they remain weak and feed on the sympothy of others. Then there are those who experience undesirable circumstances and come out on top. They don’t beg for handouts or tears. They shine through and become stronger people for the mountain they’ve had to climb, and they don’t even want recognition for this accomplishment. Those are the geniuses.
