Enough of that sappy crap!
On to more important things…
My mom called about two weeks ago and said she’d be in town today. So I spent my lunch break with the Herrera’s. My mom didn’t bring her hat, but she was wearing a pair of those oversized sunglasses. Not the stylish type that Kate Hudson wears, but the type that old people in nursing home’s wear to fit over their regular glasses. Geno was wearing is usual getup: a fisherman hat, a tank top, cotton shorts that were too small, and flip flops. I told them I had lunch at 12:30PM. They showed up at 11:30AM.
“Why are you in Denver?”
“To see you.”
“You drove all the way to Denver [a four hour drive] just to see me for 45 minutes?”
“Well, no. We had to go up to Springs to pick up a thing for the new washer and dryer.”
“What kind of thing?”
“Well, the washer and dryer are the stackable type, and we had to get a thing that goes between them.”
“They don’t sell those things in Alamosa?”
“No. We had to special order it. It was suppose to be here on June, 30th, but it didn’t get in until last week. The lady said we had to come pick it up right away. And I told her it suppose to be here the end of June. And she said they usually don’t hold things for people. And I told her that we had to make a special trip up to the Springs to get it, so they had better hold it!”
“I see.”
They brought me my brother’s old Simms snowboard from 1990. My mom thinks I’m going to ride it. I think I’m going to hang it on my wall. While I was saying goodbye to my mom, Geno was trying to fold the thing you put in the windshield to keep the car from getting too hot. It took about 15 minutes, which meant I was 15 minutes late getting back from lunch. As they were driving away, Geno took off his tank top.
